Gville’s old city hall has a new mission, open house planned

Gainesville’s historic city hall, which overlooks Jesse Jewell Parkway and for years served as the seat of city government, has been restored and has a new mission: an events venue.

According to city officials, the refurbished building, constructed in 1937, will be available to the public for such things as weddings, evening events, corporate retreats, etc.

Most city offices are now housed in the city’s administration building which sits behind the city hall structure and borders Roosevelt Square and have been for some time.
