Building permits okayed in May by the city of Gainesville numbered 185 for $24.2 million worth of construction.
That includes permits for 61 new, single-family homes valued at $12.1 million and 16 for residential additions, repairs and modeling worth $479,000.
There were two permits for new commercial construction priced at $237,418 and seven for remodeling, addition and repairs permits worth $5.5 million.
