The GBI released additional information Wednesday about the recent drug bust in Jackson County that resulted in the arrest of 20 people including two men from Gainesville.
The state agency said two of the raids occurred in Hall County but did not disclose the locations. And the GBI revised the amount of meth that was seized upward to 122 pounds and added that the Hall County Sheriff’s Office was one of the several participating agencies.
The operation, the GBI said, targeted a drug trafficking organization (DTO) allegedly responsible for distributing hundreds of kilograms of methamphetamine throughout North Georgia.

Two men from Gainesville were among 20 people arrested in Jackson County today in the culmination of a seven-month, multi-agency drug investigation that also yielded more than 100 pounds of meth.
Marijuana, other drugs and guns were also seized in what’s being described as one of the largest drug busts in the history of the county.
In addition to the Jackson Sheriff’s Office, the State Patrol, the federal Drug Enforcement Administration, the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, the GBI Gang Task Force and the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office participated in the investigation.
