Two years after being arrested at his home, a 57-year-old Gainesville man has been sentenced to life without the possibility of parole in a California cold case murder.
CalCoastNews.com reports that a Santa Barbara County judge Friday imposed that sentence on Aloysius Winthrop James for the murder of a 30-year-old woman in Santa Maria in 1988.
James was arrested at his home in Gainesville April 16, 2024, by Santa Monica police detectives with the help of Gainesville Police, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and the FBI.
He was convicted in February of killing 30-year-old Ofelia Sandoval at a Santa Monica hotel where she lived.
