Gville man recognized by state group; Lumpkin man reappointed to state board

*Gainesville Water Resources employee Arliss Swanson has received the Georgia Association of Water Professionals’ William D. Hatfield Award. This award highlights “exceptional performance and professionalism” in the management of wastewater treatment plants, according to the association.

*Sam Zamarippa of Lumpkin County has been reappointed to the state’s Wine and Grape Commodity Commission for another three years by Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper. The group is, according to the state agriculture department, “tasked with strengthening Georgia’s wine and grape industry through research, education, promotion, and advocacy.” Zamarippa operates Doghobble Vineyard and Farm in Dahlonega.
