Gville man named to state board; Gville native named to OSU coaching staff; locals co-sponsor gun sales tax holiday bill

*Darrell Keith Rochester of Gainesville has been named to the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District Governing Board. Rochester is a professional engineer who serves as CEO of Rochester & Associates. The appointment was made by Gov. Brian Kemp.

*Gainesville native Paul Randolph has joined the football coaching staff at Oklahoma State University. He’ll serve as defensive line coach.

*Several Republican state senators from our area are among 21 co-sponsors of a bill that calls for an 11-day-a-year sales tax holiday for the purchase of guns, gun safes, accessories and ammunition. They are Steve Gooch, Dahlonega; Bo Hatchett, Cornelia; Clint Dixon, Buford; Shelly Echols, Lula; and, Greg Dolezal, Cumming. Georgia News Network quotes State Auditor Greg Griffin as saying if enacted the bill would mean a loss of $1.1-$2 million in revenue a year for the state.
