A suspect in a Hall County sexual battery case remains in the Hall County Jail following his arrest last week.
Omar Molina-Barraza, 23, of Gainesville, is accused of punching an adult female victim in the face several times during a domestic altercation last Sunday. “The assault occurred at a residence on Cronic Drive just after 10 p.m.,” sheriff’s office spokeswoman B.J. Williams said Monday. “Deputies who arrived at the scene determined the incident happened in the presence of three young children, all under the age of 18.”
Molina-Barraza had left the residence by the time deputies arrived. At that time, they obtained arrest warrants for battery under the Family Violence Act (FVA) and three counts of third-degree child cruelty.
Deputies also determined Molina-Barraza had outstanding warrants for sexual battery and battery FVA involving the same victim. “Molina-Barraza was wanted on those charges for a March 17 assault on the same woman,” Williams added. “In that assault, which occurred at a residence on Dean Street, the suspect bit the victim on the right breast, leaving behind a large bruise.
“The night of Oct. 7, deputies returned to the residence for a follow-up call. They located Molina-Barraza at the residence and informed him he had warrants for his arrest. As deputies attempted to take the suspect into custody, Molina-Barraza attempted to pull away from them; he also resisted when deputies were placing him in the back of the patrol vehicle. As a result, he was charged with misdemeanor obstruction.”
Molina-Barraza has a bond of $20,100, however, he is being held with no bond on a probation violation issued last year for failure to attend DUI court.
