Gville man jailed following N. Hall chase with GSP

A Gainesville man remained behind bars early Friday following a chase in North Hall with a state trooper Wednesday afternoon. The state patrol released a report on the incident late Thursday night saying it began about 2:30 and resulted from a “wanted person” lookout for the suspect’s car, a Honda CR-V.

STATE PATROL NARRATIVE:

“…When the trooper observed the suspect vehicle on (Thompson Bridge Rd), around Virginia Avenue, he observed a traffic violation and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.  The driver, identified as Jonathan Allen Beauford, 34, of Gainesville, failed to yield and initiated a pursuit.

Beauford began traveling north on Thompson Bridge Rd, driving erratically, passing vehicles improperly, and weaving in and out of traffic.   When the CR-V crossed the Thompson Bridge over Lake Lanier, Beauford threw an item out of the window and then struck the side of the bridge with its right side.

At the intersection of Ledan Rd, the CR-V struck the raised concrete median and a civilian vehicle, flattening the CR-V’s left front tire. Beauford continued to flee north to (Mt Vernon Rd) before turning right.  While crossing the bridge over Lake Lanier, Beauford threw out other items before surrendering near the Hall County Fire Station 16.

As a result, Beauford was arrested and transported to the Hall County Jail.  He was charged with seatbelt violation, fleeing and eluding (felony), improper passing, suspended license, failure to maintain lane, hit and run, reckless driving, and Driving Under the Influence.”
