A Gainesville man who was devoted to his family, his church and his community, Don Wagner, has died at the age of 86.
A native of Ohio, Wagner pursued a degree in accounting at Ohio University and pursued a career in that field, eventually rising to Divisional Controller for Con-Agra Foods, where he retired in 2004.
Aside from work, throughout his life, he was actively involved in serving his community, according to his obituary. He served on the boards of the Hall County Red Cross and the Hall County United Way. With Lions Club International, he served as President of the Gainesville Lions Club, District Governor, Treasurer of the International Pin Traders, member of North Hall Lions Club, and volunteered with the Georgia Camp for the Blind.
Wagner was a 40-plus-year member of Gainesville First United Methodist Church and the Aldersgate Sunday School Class. “His dedication to his community was evident in everything he did, and he touched many lives through his church community’s outreach,” the obituary continues.
A memorial service was held Saturday at Gainesville First United Methodist Church.
