Gville man charged with 14 counts of child sexual exploitation

A 25-year-old Gainesville man was arrested Wednesday for possessing and sharing child
sex abuse material (CSAM) more than a year ago, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).

“William Porter Martin was arrested after search warrants were executed at both his home on Harmony Church Road and at his workplace,” HCSO spokeswoman B.J. Williams wrote in an email. “Martin
was charged at the time of his arrest with 14 counts of sexual exploitation of children, seven for possession of CSAM and seven for distribution of CSAM. The illegal activity occurred between July 1 and July 17, 2023.”

“Following a cyber tip, investigators determined Martin had in his possession six videos and
one still image of young girls engaged in sexually explicit poses,” Willliams added. “Martin had shared the
materials on a social media app. There is no evidence the children depicted in the materials are from the local area.”

At the time of Martin’s arrest, investigators say they seized several electronic devices from his home
and his person. Additional charges are possible as the investigation continues.

Martin remains in the Hall County Jail with no bond.
