Gville man charged in connection with incident at Lyman Hall school

A Gainesville man who walked onto the playground at Lyman Hall Elementary School
without authorization Tuesday afternoon and attempted to interact with students playing soccer is facing criminal charges. Victor Hugo Yanez-Aguayo, 24, has no known ties the school, according to Hall County authorities, and did not have permission to be at the school.

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE:

“When school officials noticed Yanez-Aguayo on the playground with the children, the
principal locked down the school. All teachers and students were instructed to shelter
inside their classrooms until the incident was resolved. The Hall County School Resource
Officer (SRO) assigned to the school found Yanez-Aguayo climbing a fence between the
school and Titshaw Drive and detained him.

Hall County School District officials notified parents of Lyman Hall students about the
incident Tuesday evening.

Yanez-Aguayo was charged with loitering upon school premises and disruption of a public
school, both misdemeanor offenses. At this time (Thursday morning), Yanez-Aguayo remains in the Hall County Jail with no bond.”
