GPD: Serial shoplifter arrested

A 35-year-old woman was being held in the Hall County Jail Tuesday in lieu of $4,550 bond following her weekend arrest on seven counts of shoplift.

Gainesville Police (GPD) spokeswoman Jessica Van says Iris Jocelin Rodriguez-Vazquez is charged with taking between $1,400 and $2,800 with of miscellaneous merchandise and groceries from Walmart on Shallowford Road since January 25.

“Because of a recent arrest of shoplifting on (March 14) where she was arrested on scene at Walmart, detectives were able to identify her for the (seven cases) mentioned,” Lt. Van said. “Each shoplifting case would be roughly around $200-$400 worth of (items). The case is still active.”
