Point Blank Enterprises and Federal Eastern International (Fed East) recently honored the Gainesville Police Department (GPD) with their Save Award, recognizing an incident where one of its officers came under “heavy” gunfire during a March standoff.
“Our officers took multiple rounds of fire,” the department posted Saturday on social media. “Tragically, one round struck an officer’s ballistic vest with potentially fatal consequences. Thankfully, the vest did its job—protecting the officer and preventing what could have been a devastating outcome. The officer sustained only minor bodily injuries.
“We are incredibly grateful for the lifesaving technology and equipment developed by Point Blank and the protection it provides to the men and women of GPD.”
But this partnership goes beyond the equipment, the posting says. “Just as we stood behind their product to protect our officers, Point Blank stood behind us. They replaced the ballistic vest at no cost to the department.”
