*A 23-year-old former employee of a Gainesville Burger King has been charged facing ten charges of Theft By Taking for allegedly stealing from her employer. Gainesville Police spokesman Kevin Holbrook says Angel Laneek Robinson “allegedly stole around $600 during her month-long employment.”

*A 78-year-old man says he was swindled out of $42,000 when he signed with a company to help him get out of a timeshare contract. He alleges the company is fraud.

*Officers responding to a report of a medical emergency on Otila Drive say they found a 12-year-old boy living in unsanitary conditions there. (EDITOR’S NOTE: This story will be updated when new information is available.)

*It’s a scam we are warned about over and over and over by authorities: someone purporting to be in law enforcement contacts you and starts demanding money for one reason or another. Now, a 30-uyear-old Gainesville woman has fallen victim to such a ploy – to the tune of $14,000 – according to Lt. Holbrook. “(She received a phone call from someone claiming to be the Sheriff’s Office with a warrant (and) sent crypto currency,” he wrote in an email.
