GPAB to hear request involving plans for new motel

Plans for another extended stay hotel in Gainesville are scheduled to be heard by the city’s planning and appeals board next month.

They involve a 41-acre tract in the 400 block of Crescent Drive. The developers are seeking a special use permit for a Staybridge Suites hotel. The property is zoned General Business. Already moving the city permit process are plans for a Residence Inn extended stay in that same part of town at the Huntington Drive-White Sulphur Road intersection.

Meanwhile, four townhomes are planned in the 200 block of Summit Street. The developers are seeking to rezone half-an-acre to accommodate the units.

The zoning and appeals board meetings January 9 at 5:30 at the Gainesville Justice Center.
