This year’s Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) golf tournament raised more than $330,000 to support the expansion of the emergency department at Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Braselton.
The Jackson EMC-sponsored tournament was named in memory of Cheryl Shippey, a member of the NGHS Foundation team, who unexpectedly passed away in March 2023.
NGMC Braselton opened in 2015 with an emergency department designed to handle 25,000 visits a year, but annual visits have more than doubled in less than a decade as the population around the hospital continues to boom. The expansion, set to open later this summer, will more than triple the square footage and double the number of patient rooms.
More than 120 golfers participated in the tournament.
