GoFund account set up for family of murdered teen

As the search continued for his killer late Tuesday night, a GoFund account had been established to help his family with his funeral expenses.

Gainesville Police said earlier Tuesday Aristo Ramirez, 17, was killed Saturday night on the city’s west side and another teenager was wounded. The search was on for the suspected killer, another teen who fled the scene. Shootings: one teen killed, one wounded, one on the run, one jailed

“Aristeo was a cherished son, brother, and friend to all who knew him,” the announcement on the GoFund page begins. “His kindness, laughter, and love for his family touched the hearts of everyone around him.

“In this difficult time, we are coming together to honor his memory and support his family through the emotional and financial burdens of laying him to rest. The loss of Aristeo has left a profound hole in the hearts of those who loved him, and we want to ensure his family can focus on grieving and healing, without the added stress of funeral expenses.

“Any contributions to help with funeral costs and arrangements would be deeply appreciated. Even if you’re unable to donate, your thoughts, prayers, and shares are all valuable to us during this incredibly difficult time.”

By late Tuesday night, 92 contributors had pledged $5,567 of the $9,000 goal. They ranged from $5-$1,000.

Thank you for your support, love, and kindness as we navigate through this heartbreaking loss. Aristeo’s memory will live on in our hearts forever.
