*The recent Greens for Good Golf Tournament sponsored by the Gainesville-based Georgia Mountain Food Bank (GMFB) raised enough money for more than 380,000 meals. Held at Legacy at Lanier Islands Resort, it was a first-of-its-kind fundraiser for the food banks.
*Atlanta Gas Light has donated eight bat houses and two tubular bat roosts for Dawson County parks. “This effort reflects our commitment to environmental stewardship, caring for the communities we serve and protecting what we all share,” a company news release says. Bats consume large quantities of insects which is of benefit to agriculture. This is nothing new for Atlanta Gas Light. Last year alone, employees and volunteers constructed dozens of bat habitats, helping provide shelter for thousands of bats in protected areas.
