GHS principal update; New Oakwood logo?, GDOE public hearing; and more

*The Gainesville Board of Education is scheduled to get an update on the search for a new high school principal during its work session Monday night. EARLIER STORY. POSTED JAN. 3: Gainesville High School (GHS) principal Jamie Green plans to step down at the end of the school year. Green, who has held the post five years, plans to move with his family to Brazil, where his wife is from.

*An update on the proposed re-branding of the city logo is expected to be presented to the Oakwood City Council during a work session Tuesday night.

*Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger recently presented the Forsyth County Department of Voter Registrations & Elections with the Georgia Election Administration Golden Leader in Excellence Award. 

*The Buford man who was the subject of a Missing Persons report from Gwinnett Police last week has been found and is okay.

*State Board of Education member Martha Zoller will hold a public hearing for people in the 9th Congressional District March 12, 7:00-8:00 p.m., at the Buford City Schools offices at 2625 Sawnee Avenue.  

*Brian Harris has been named Jackson EMC Vice President of Information Technology. He will replace Jeff Keen who is retiring in April after 41 years with the electric co-op. Harris was most recently the Director of IT Infrastructure and Data Integrity, a position he’s held since 2017.
