As a result of high fire danger conditions in north Georgia, including Gainesville, all outdoor burning in the city has been suspended until further notice. That’s according to a social media posting by the city fire department (GFD).
The posting notes the continuing warnings from the U.S. National Weather Service about low relative humidities, dry fuels and windy conditions as contributing factors to the high fire danger threat.
GFD says it will re-evaluate whether outdoor burning can resume safely in Gainesville-Hall County as soon as conditions improve.
