Twelve people were left homeless by a fire that destroyed a house in south Gainesville early Thursday evening. In addition, a number of people suffered from smoke inhalation and were treated on the scene.
Gainesville Fire Department (GFD) Division Chief Joshua Sheridan said the call came in just after 6:00 to the 3100 block of Ridgemont Tract.
“On arrival of fire personnel, the house was already heavily involved,” Sheridan said. “Crews began
working to extinguish the fire. Personnel were on scene for a little more than two and a half hours.”
No word on the cause of the fire.
