The drought strengthened its hold on north Georgia during the past week while decreasing in coverage area as a whole statewide. It now covers 57 percent compared to 63 percent last week, according to the U.S Drought Monitor (USDM).
Hall County and most of north Georgia are now considered “moderately dry” while a few counties just to the south are less affected and are classified as “abnormally dry.”
The rest of the state is drought-free.
