GDOT seeks public input on Holly Springs project

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) plans to replace four culverts over Flat Creek on Holly Springs Road with a bridge and is seeking public comment on the project.

“The existing culverts at Flat Creek were constructed in 1960,” a public notice reads. “The (existing) structure is comprised of four 30-foot long, 6-foot diameter corrugated metal pipes. The existing section of SR 283/Holly Springs Road consists of two 11-foot travel lanes, one in each direction, and 3-foot-wide paved shoulders.”

The proposed section would consist of two 12-foot travel lanes, one in each direction, with 10-foot shoulders (4-foot paved). The proposed bridge would be constructed on the existing alignment. In addition, an off-site detour of four miles is proposed.

Public input will be accepted until May 15. Written statements may be submitted to: Mr. Eric Duff State Environmental Administrator Georgia Department of Transportation 600 West Peachtree Street, NW – 16th Floor Atlanta, Georgia 30308.
