Gas prices turned upward over the past week in Gainesville, the rest of Georgia and across the country.
The average price of a gallon in Gainesville is up three cents to $2.94. The state average increased a penny and also sits at $2.94. Nationally, the price is $3.12, an increase of four cents compared to seven days ago.
AAA predicts that even though the price of crude oil remains below $70 a barrel, prices at the pump are going up as more refineries make the seasonal switch to summer-blend gasoline. “Summer-blend gas is less likely to evaporate in warmer temperatures and is more expensive to produce,” according to a spokesman.
