Gas prices continued their downward trend in Gainesville and statewide over the past seven days, declining another three cents a gallon. The price in Gainesville is $2.74 a gallon for regular unleaded compared to $2.77 a week ago. The statewide average is $2.79 versus $2.82 last Monday.
However, a big surge in those prices could be just around the corner. Georgia News Network reminds us that the suspension of the state gas tax, enacted by Gov. Brian Kemp in September and extended last month, is due to expire later this week.
