Do your weekend plans include downtown Gainesville? If so, your chariot awaits. And a new stop has been added: Cresswind at Lake Lanier.
CITY OF GAINESVILLE NEWS RELEASE:
“The City of Gainesville, specifically Hall Area Transit (HAT), brings back the free Gainesville Trolley service from 5:00 p.m.-midnight Friday-Saturday starting today and continuing through Sept. 12.
“HAT reimagined the Gainesville Trolley operation to better align with riders’ schedules and when they want a ride to downtown Gainesville,” said Gainesville-Hall County Community Service Center Director Phillippa Lewis Moss, who oversees HAT. “The new schedule eliminates Thursday hours altogether, traditionally our slowest day for ridership, to expand Friday and Saturday hours later into the evening when more people are out and about.
“We’re excited to see these small, but significant changes have an even bigger impact on Gainesville Trolley fans, especially those enjoying a late dinner or nightlife on the square, or even those attending a concert or performance at a nearby venue,” she continued.
In addition to Cresswind, the route includes the Chattahoochee Golf Club, Dixon neighborhood, Glenwood/Riverside neighborhood, Midland and Fair Street neighborhood routes. Three trolleys will service these routes — one for Dixon, one for Glenwood/Riverside and one for all remaining routes.
