The City of Gainesville seeks to gain guidance by inviting community stakeholders to share their ideas for the future of downtown Gainesville.
CITY OF GAINESVILLE FACEBOOK POST:
“Downtown Gainesville has undergone growth like never before, which has contributed to an enhanced experience for residents, visitors and business owners alike. City leadership wishes to gain insight into what the public desires out of their town square, whether it be more restaurants, retail and services; green, recreational and open-air spaces; interactive elements such as water features or public art; framework supporting live entertainment and community events, etc. The City also wishes to hear what aspects of the historic square could be improved.
The City will host two public input meetings from ๐ฎ-๐ฐ ๐ฝ. The Vault at The National, There, attendees will circulate around five interactive stations at their own pace to give feedback on the following discussion items:
Identify where people linger, where people sit and stay, where people and vehicles interact, how people flow around the square, plus unused areas
Identify park elements you most want to see in your town square
- ๐ช๐ต๐ผ ๐ฑ๐ผ ๐๐ผ๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ฒ: Identify the โpeople you typically seeโ (day-to-day users), along with โpeople you see for special occasionsโ (the occasional visitor at a festival or market) and โpeople you would like to seeโ (that you donโt currently see)
If given a blank postcard to send to a friend, what would an image of the historic square look like 10 years from now? Draw what you envision for downtown Gainesville, including elements and focal points you wish to see
Describe your needs and concerns for the historic Gainesville square
Before leaving, stakeholders will be asked to participate in a brief survey to tell organizers about themselves and/or their business(es).
City staff will also be on hand to engage in constructive discussion and answer questions.”
