A 26-year-old Gainesville man has told police he lost $27,000 to a swindle involving the purchase of a car.
“Subject bought a vehicle, believes he was frauded. Vehicle did not have a catalytic converter,” Gainesville Police spokesman Kevin Holbrook wrote in an email. Holbrook added that there have been no arrests.
The police report says this was reported on Tuesday, the day the victim says it happened.
