Ga. uneployment rate unchanged; man with S. Hall connections convicted in Capitol riot case

*Georgia’s October unemployment rate was 3.4 percent, unchanged from a revised 3.4 percent in September. The unemployment rate was five-tenths lower than the national unemployment rate. (Rates for each county in Georgia will be released next week.)

*An Athens man whose father lives in Flowery Branch was convicted Wednesday by a federal judge of his part in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol. Sentencing for Jake Maxwell, 20, will be later. He was found guilty of one felony charge and two misdemeanor charges. The AJC reports his father, Daniel Shane Maxwell of Flowery Branch, testified on his behalf during the trial. He was also at the Capitol that day but was not charged.
