Ga. Teacher of the Year finalist; Winder wins suit against Barrow Co.; Hall drug trafficking

*Steven McIntyre (pictured with Ga. Schools Supt. Richard Woods), who teaches CTAE: Audio Video and Film Tech at Chestatee High School, is one of the 10 finalists for the 2025 Georgia Teacher of the Year. Along with the others, he will meet with a panel of judges for formal speeches and interviews before the state 2025 Teacher of the Year is selected.

*The Georgia Supreme Court has ruled in Winder’s favor in a suit against Barrow County over the Services Delivery Strategy Act (SDS). A spokeswoman for the city says the Court’s ruling provides clarity on the funding of services such as County Road maintenance that primarily benefit unincorporated areas, ensuring that such services are funded appropriately, and disputes are resolved in accordance with the SDS Act’s provisions. *A 50-year-old man, Michael Kevin Blackmon, was being held in the Hall County Jail Sunday morning after being arrested Friday on several drug, including trafficking, and forgery charges. Bond is set at $18,400. The charges are:
