Ga. gas tax suspension extended; local doctor named to EMS Advisory Council; state revenues down again

*Gov. Brian Kemp has signed an executive order that continues the suspension of the state’s excise tax on motor and locomotive fuel. It will remain in effect until 11:59 p.m. on November 29. This is the second extension of the tax break. It originally went into effect in September and was extended last month as it was due to expire.

*Sung Lee, MD, medical director for neurointerventional surgery at Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) has been appointed to the Georgia Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Directors Advisory Council. The council is made up of physicians from health systems across the state who serve and advise the State Office of EMS. Dr. Lee will serve as the sole stroke representative for this council, providing guidance on EMS stroke systems of care for the state.

*Georgia News Network reports state revenue numbers are down again. Collections last month were a little more than three percent under revenue in October of last year. When you take out gas tax collections, the adjusted rate rises to nearly six percent behind last October.
