This week’s Georgia drought report is a double-edged sword.
For one, many counties suffering from drought conditions, including Hall and adjacent ones, saw the degree to which they are subject to the dry weather worsen. The U.S. Drought Monitor (USDM) says they are now suffering from “moderate drought” conditions. The same is true of parts of west Central and southwest Georgia.
On the other hand, the drought-free parts of the state increased from five percent to 37 percent over the past seven days. That area encompasses parts of southeast, southwest and east central Georgia, including Savannah, Augusta, Perry and Thomasville.
And the level of Lake Lanier? It’s down three-tenths of a foot from a week ago and was at 1067.7 Thursday morning.
