State fines Forsyth Co. for sewage spill; new appeal for help in solving shooting that left Lula man dead

*The state has fined Forsyth County $6,056 for a sewage spill that occurred earlier this year. The enforcement order which can be read here Enforcement Order EPD-WP-9463 | Georgia EPD Enforcement Orders (gaepd.org) cites “spills of raw sewage into Water of the State and to dry land; failure to conduct analyses; permit effluent violations.”

*The GBI is renewing an appeal for help from the public in solving a shooting in Commerce that left one man from Lula dead and his brother wounded. It happened at the Dollar General on Wilson Road. Billy Smith was killed and Phillip Smith was wounded. The suspect is a light-skinned man who is about 5-foot-10-inches tall with dark-colored hair. He left the scene in a smaller, dark-colored SUV.
