The GBI has arrested and charged 42-year-old Justin Brown of Dahlonega, a former Hall County sheriff’s detective, with two counts of Misuse of a License Plate Reader System and two counts of Violation of Oath of Office. At the time of the offenses, Brown was still employed by the sheriff’s office.
On August 18, the sheriff’s office requested the GBI to investigate allegations of employee misuse following an internal audit of the Flock Safety System. Preliminary information indicates that Brown accessed the Flock Safety System for non-law enforcement purposes.
He is one of several officers in the department either fired or arrested or both in recent weeks as the results of the audit unfolded.
