Former Hall sheriff’s candidate abruptly leaves Habersham sheriff’s office

Habersham County Sheriff’s Sgt. Kris Hall abruptly resigned earlier this week.

County spokesman Rob Moore confirmed Hall’s resignation Wednesday. No reason was given for his action and Moore said he couldn’t comment further.

A former candidate for sheriff in Hall County, Hall was a seven-year veteran of the Habersham Sheriff’s Office and served as sergeant over the department’s HEAT (Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic) Unit.

Just last year Hall and his unit were recognized for their work by the Georgia Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD).

He ran an unsuccessful campaign in 2020 against incumbent Hall Sheriff Gerald Couch.
