Former Gville resident’s portrait now hangs in the state Capitol; one legislator banned from the House because of his remarks about him

A portrait of former Georgia House Speaker David Ralston (pictured), a former Gainesville resident who died in 2022, was unveiled in the House Thursday. On the same day, a State Senator was slapped with an immediate lifetime ban from the House because of remarks he made about Ralston.

Sen. Carlton Moore (R-Trenton) blasted Ralston, a former reporter for the Gainesville Times, during remarks on the Senate floor. “This body is about to memorialize, in my opinion, one of the most corrupt Georgia leaders that we are ever going to see in my lifetime,” Fox 5 quotes Moore as saying.
