New documents are shedding light on a wave of departures from the Demorest Police Department.
Resignation letters blame ongoing conflicts with Mark Musselwhite, Demorest’s city manager and former Gainesville mayor, for worsening morale inside the department.
The documents, obtained by Now Georgia, detail the claims that lead to the resignation of Police Chief Casey Chastain and several other employees. Former officers describe a strained work environment and growing tension between police leadership and City Hall.
City officials still have not publicly addressed the specific allegations.
