UPDATE: 75-yr-old Good Samaritan shot; Foreclosures on the rise; Feds investigating school systems; Cops fired

*Authorities are investigating after a 75-year-old woman was shot while handing out baked goods to people in need in East Point. Police say Dorothy Gordon was shot in the back at a gas station and remains hospitalized. Investigators say the gunman fled the scene, and they have not determined a motive or whether she was intentionally targeted.  

*Georgia’s seeing one of the nation’s sharpest increases in foreclosure activity. A new report from real estate data company ATTOM shows over 8,400 Georgia properties received foreclosure filings during the first half of the year. That’s up 52% from last year.

*Parents across DeKalb, Richmond, and Chatham counties are looking for answers today as federal officials open a civil rights investigation. According to documents obtained by Atlanta News First (ANF), the probe focuses on whether local schools properly track and handle sexual harassment cases. DeKalb County’s Interim Superintendent released a statement defending district policies, saying that every allegation is taken seriously and reported.

*Three Fayetteville Police officers are out of a job after the department alleged they misused Flock camera data. The department said the testing of a new auditing feature revealed the officers had looked up their own plates, and also those of their friends and family.
