Flowery Branch seeks $1M from ARC for trail project

Flowery Branch is seeking the release of Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) funds totaling one million dollars for the construction of the Flowery Branch Spur Trail.

The proposed path is from Spring Street to Phil Niekro Boulevard by way of Mulberry Street and East Main with a connection to the existing Highlands to Islands Trail system and will include a pedestrian bridge across the creek along East Main Street. It will be a multi-use concrete or asphalt trail for pedestrians and cyclists.

The estimated cost of the project is two million dollars of which one million is the requested ARC funds.
