Flowery Branch road rage

A Buford man wanted on a charge growing out of an alleged road rage incident four days ago in Flowery Branch was arrested Wednesday and is being held without bond in the Hall County Jail.

FLOWERY BRANCH POLICE DEPT. NARRATIVE:

“On February 4th, 2024, Flowery Branch Police Officers responded to a reported road rage incident that occurred in the 5700 block of Phil Niekro Blvd.

The victim reported as he was traveling on Interstate 985 southbound, he passed another motorist who was driving a white in color pickup truck. The victim indicated the other motorist became angry when he was passed and then started tailgating the victim. The victim exited the interstate on Phil Niekro Boulevard and pulled into a convenience store parking lot as the driver of the pickup followed behind.

The victim reported the driver of the pickup then brandished a firearm and made a verbal threat against his life before driving away.

The matter was referred to Investigators who reviewed area photo/video surveillance and obtained the license plate number of suspect vehicle. Investigators then identified the pickup driver as being Preston Sweatman,30, of Buford Georgia. Flowery Branch Police Investigators secured an arrest warrant against Preston Sweatman for one count of Aggravated Assault. Mr. Sweatman was later arrested by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.”
