Flowery Branch Police Chief Chris Hulsey is retiring. That’s according to a late Tuesday afternoon news release from the police department.
Hulsey began his law enforcement career in 2004 with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, where he served as a deputy before joining the Flowery Branch Police Department two years later. He advanced steadily through the ranks, serving as officer, corporal, sergeant, lieutenant, deputy chief and interim chief. He was appointed chief in 2022 following a selection process that began after the retirement of Chief David Spillers.
Under his leadership, the department expanded to 31 full‑time employees and achieved state certification. The agency also launched a K‑9 program, created a special response team, added full‑time positions for training and crime scene work, and partnered with community groups to develop the department’s firing range into a full‑service training center. The number of certified instructors within the department grew from one to five.
