The SKF USA plant in Flowery Branch has begun laying off 40 full-time and 17 part-time, according to a WARN Act filing.
The WARN (Worker Adjustment and Notification) Act mandates that employers with 100 or more employees must provide at least 60 days’ advance written notice of a plant closing or mass layoff affecting 50 or more employees.
The layoffs were to begin June 26, according to the filing.
“All positions impacted were in manufacturing for bearings and the positions that supported the manufacturer of those parts,” the notification says. “The EHS Tech was reduced due to product demand leaving this role completed audits and administrative duties.”
The plant manufactures ball bearings.
