The Habersham County Commission (HCC) will be asked Monday to consider approving an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with the cities and towns in the county for the imposition of a new Local Option Sales Tax.
The seven municipalities in the county – Alto, Baldwin, Clarkesville, Cornelia, Demorest, Mount Airy, and Tallulah Falls – are already on board, having approved the (IGA).
This is one, a one cent tax known as a FLOST or PTRLOST, would bring about, if approved by the voters, a reduction in property taxes. The referendum would be held during the Nov. 3 General Election.
