The likelihood of Flash Flooding in the Gainesville area increased Friday evening from a Level 1 threat to Level 2 (out of 5.)
“Several rounds of storms are possible on Saturday,” the latest National Weather Service (NWS) forecast says. “1st round expected to move in late AM/early PM. 2nd round may develop late in the day in (Alabama) and move our way.”
The advisory goes on to say some storms could be severe, especially across northwestern and western Georgia including the risk for damaging winds, lightning and very heavy rainfall. “Flash flooding will be a concern as storms will be capable of producing very high rainfall rates.”
