First significant rainfall since Sept. expected through Thursday

Chances are good that the Gainesville area and the rest of north Georgia will see their first significant rainfall since September over the next couple of days.

“A storm system should bring rainfall to Georgia between Wednesday evening and Thursday,” according to the National Weather Service (NWS).  “The highest rainfall totals are expected in north Georgia, while portions of central and (south) Georgia may miss out on rainfall all together.”

The highest rainfall amounts are expected along and north of I-20, including one-half to one inch in most places including in Gainesville,

The last significant rainfall in much of north Georgia occurred in late September.
