First female Chair of BSA Chattahoochee District dies

The first woman to serve as Chairman of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Chattahoochee District has died. Joan Driskell Hopkins passed away Fridy at the age of 78.

Her work with scouting included leadership roles in Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts, Webelos, and BSA Troop 26 as scout mom for her Four Eagle Scout sons. As the first female Chairman of the Chattahoochee District, she received the District Award of Merit, and the highest scouting award bestowed upon a civilian.
