The Georgia Forestry Commission (GFC) responded to 137 wildfires that burned more than 2,000 acres across the state over the weekend, including 2,390 Saturday alone. The number for Sunday was not available at last check. Meanwhile, another Fire Danger Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) and is in effect through Monday evening for Hall County and the rest of north Georgia as well as the central part of the state because of low relative humidities.
NWS STATEMENT:
"Relative Humidities of 25 percent or less can be expected for 4 or more hours Monday afternoon and evening. Winds will be light and variable at times, but will favor the east to southeast at 4 to 7 MPH. With dry fuels, high fire danger conditions can be expected. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities whether you may burn outdoors. If you do burn outside, use extreme caution."
