The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) says it is receiving “more reports than usual,” of phone scams throughout the county.
“People are reporting phone calls that they have an unpaid citation, missed court date, a warrant for their arrest, and other legal issues,” the office posted on its Facebook page.
“If you have any concerns or questions regarding a phone call that you aren’t sure about, please call the Sheriff’s Office or non-emergency dispatch number to verify if it’s real. We will not call you to tell you that you have unpaid citations or missed court dates, and we WILL NOT call you looking for a payment for anything.”
This scam has also been reported in several other counties in the Gainesville area at one time or another and resurfaces periodically.
