FBCC to consider housing developments, crematorium requests

The Flowery Branch planning staff is recommending against rezoning and annexation of a tract of land on Jones Street where the owners would like to locate a residential development.

“It is staff’s opinion that the proposal should not be approved considering the overwhelming
traffic on Mitchell St will be caused by the proposed development,” the staff’s recommendation reads.

A piece of unfinished business is also on the agenda: 117 houses on 23 acres in the 5100 block of Church Street. PR Land Investment is the applicant, and the tract includes several acres not in the city which the developers wish to be annexed and combined with the rest of the property which is already inside the city limits. This matter was first considered by the council a few weeks ago.

The Flowery Branch City Council (FBCC) is to consider the requests at a meeting Thursday night.

And the council is to consider a request from Memorial Park Funeral Home South for a Special Use Permit for the crematorium at its current location on Falcon Parkway.
