The Flowery Branch City Council (FBCC) is being asked to consider an annual increase in water-sewer rates through 2030 “to meet the current needs for the city.”
Water rates would go up seven percent each year and sewer rates 8.7 percent.
“Nelsnick Enterprises, Inc. (Nelsnick) has been working with the City over the past couple of years analyzing our water sewer capital improvement plan (CIP) and water sewer rates in relation to the CIP plan,” according to documents included in the agenda for Thursday’s council meeting. “…Nelsnick presented the recommended water sewer rate increases over the next 5 years based on
infrastructure improvements needed in our systems. The last rate change took effect with (a resolution) signed November 3, 2022. This recommended rate changes will be effective 1/1/2025.”
Also at Thursday’s meeting, the council will be asked to consider a city-initiated rezoning from Agriculture (A) to Residential Low Density (R-1) for 21.44 aces on Jones Road.
The agenda notes that “Suburban Residential areas are located throughout the city and include locations where low- to moderate-density single-family development exists or is likely based on a property’s zoning and surrounding uses.”
The proposal says the reason for the request is to “protect established single-family neighborhoods and create quality new residential construction…”
